The two of them rode their respective essences, Red and Blue meteors, across the stars up until they impacted a life-rich planet in a far-off system. But they were unaware of the consequences of this.Īs the Rod of Ayla exploded, Zarkhator's spirit was released and Steve was reduced to the same state. When Steve eventually escaped, the Grox resorted to destroying his escape pod, and the Rod of Ayla with him. The Grox distrusted Steve when he told them he was their lost creator, and they captured him. Taking up the name "Steve", he fought with Zarkhator internally for years up until he joined the Spice Trade, where he began to trade with races such as the Grox, who would be his last. Terribly weakened, he headed for a nearby planet rich with life, and he mingled with the dominant race residing there. He sought to reshape it all in his own image, but Spode's other half took action, sealing the villain away in the Rod of Ayla with what power he had. The more powerful side, who would take up the name Zarkhator, was jealous and frustrated by the way life had evolved so. He almost succeeded, but accidentally split himself in two one half became his more powerful and dangerous side, while the other was the exact opposite, despite having control over the Rod of Ayla. Within the void, Spode attempted to make himself mortal with his staff. So Spode simply stationed them around the portal to his personal void, right at the center of the galaxy, where he prepared a new experiment. But the Grox were emotionally lifeless, and they had little drive to expand and evolve. They were a machine race, created with a silicon and titanium base that was made to, and I quote, "Explore the Galaxy". His inquisitive and creative mind went to work with the trail mix of energies to create life with his Rod of Ayla, and his first creations. When the God That Will Come was driven off at last, Spode took notice of the effects of the millenia-long battle, seeing several races rising up throughout the galaxy. As they clashed, various mixes of energy spread across the cosmos, conjuring the stepping stones of life. One is the being we know as Spode, and the other, the God That Will Come. Long ago, in the galaxy's earliest years, two powerful beings fought for dominance. Keep in mind that I'm mixing multiple games here.
